Why a birthday in Austin? Because it’s AUSTIN! I know its a fundraiser, but don’t expect it to be all about the kids. Held the last Saturday in April every year. The Austin Moonlight Towers – Next time you’re driving around the older part of Austin, take notice of those weird metal towers that still rise above parts of the area. Their strange look and design makes most people ask “What are those?” No, they’re not cell phone towers, but the way Austin lit up the night in the late 1800’s. In 1894, Austin purchased 31 used towers from Detroit. 17 still stand. Austin’s Museum of the Weird – You know a town that takes pride in its weirdness has to have one of these. Words don’t do it justice, so check it out for yourself while cruising down 6th Street. There’s plenty of more weirdness to share in Austin, these are just some examples.
